4 Things to Remember When You’re Feeling Broken
We all know that life has its ups and downs. While the ups mostly gratify and inspire us, the downs do the exact opposite. It’s hard for us to lift our spirits up if we’re down and when life’s not going our way. There comes a point in life where we feel like we can’t shoulder our burdens anymore. The problems, trials, and challenges we encounter in life became too overwhelming. We feel lost, worthless, and broken.
While it’s okay to feel broken at some point in our lives, we shouldn’t dwell on it for long. We should learn to overcome it because, in the future, we’ll look back and realize that these downfalls were the catalysts to change our lives to become stronger and better.
“Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.” – Charles R. Swindell
How do you keep moving forward when everything fails? Here are the four things you need to remember when you’re feeling down and broken.
Accept & anticipate change.
Change, whether good or bad, is inevitable. Therefore, instead of fighting change, learn to embrace it and accept it as part of your life. Remember that the world is constantly evolving, so as you. In due time, you will need to change your priorities, goals, wants, needs, as well as your perspective on life in order to adapt and survive.
Fighting change will only make it harder for you to accept the reality of life. You’ll only spread the negative energy around you. On the other hand, if you embrace change, you will develop the positive energy on how to adapt it.
Remember that you always have the freedom and power to choose
Bear in mind that it’s not your fault that you were born in the kind of life you were born. However, if you die living the same kind of life, that’s where you’re at fault. This is really in connection to number 1 because if you don’t embrace change., you won’t make progress.
But if you want things to change, such as the current status of your life, then you have the power to change it. How? By making the right decisions and taking the right actions. Life is a matter of choices, not by chances. Do you want to achieve your dream? Work hard for it. Want to travel to another place? Earn and travel. Remember that you have the power to change the course of your life and it’s up to you to make that choice or not.
Ask for help
“Asking for help does not mean that we are weak or incompetent. It usually indicates an advanced level of honesty and intelligence.” Anne Wilson Schaef
Whether you’re rich or not, a man or a woman, old or young, it doesn’t matter. All of us need help. So if you feel like you can’t bear the challenges you’re facing in life anymore, don’t hesitate to ask for help. It’s fine to ask for someone’s help. It will not make you look weak’ it just means that you’re brave and strong enough. Remember that no man is an island.
Remember to Dwell On The Things that Can Make You Happy
One of the reasons why we’re overwhelmed with situations in life is because we tend to dwell on the negative stuff. While thinking about issues such as food and security in advance is good for us, we must not let our past or future compromise what we have right now: today. Overthinking about things will get you nowhere.
Instead, treasure every moment in your life. Do what you love today to experience that immeasurable joy and fulfillment. Remember that no matter how hard and rough it is, you’ll be able to see the light at the end of this darkness.
