4 Ways to Ease the Anxiety You’re Feeling

One of the darkest and heaviest emotions we can feel is the feeling of anxiety. Whenever we feel like something big or looming is impending to come, especially something out of our control, we often feel anxious. It’s really horrible to feel anxious because we cannot push the nagging feeling in the stomach away. We feel jittery and we can’t keep calm.

We often anticipate a certain thing to happen just to get over with it and end all the anxiety we’re feeling. Yet, at the same time, we don’t have the guts to face it. In fact, we dread facing the reality of the situation because we’re afraid of the outcome. These conflicting feelings leave us tossing in bed at night, losing our focus and killing our productivity all day.

How do we calm ourselves down and help fight anxiety? Here are our top 5 ways to ease the anxiety you’re feeling.

Remember that this too will pass

No matter what happens, good or bad, remember that everything in our lives come and goes. This means that whatever you’re feeling right now, or whatever situation you’re in right now, it will pass eventually. Therefore, instead of dwelling and stressing yourself over the situation, learn to take a deep, calming breath to relax. Breath in, breath out. Inhale. Exhale.

Repeat this for a couple of times if you have to, until such a time when your body calms down. We want you to remember this famous line from the film “Three Idiots,”

“All Is Well!”

No matter how bad, dreadful or the end of the world you think your situation may be, everything will just come out fine and well in the end. Just have faith that you’ll be able to overcome the obstacles or challenges you’re facing right now and a brighter tomorrow will eventually come.

Self-Talk and Affirmations

Have you ever had a time where you seemed to end up having a monolog with yourself? We often do this especially if we want to be assured of something. We want to be assured that we can do this, and we can conquer whatever has been bothering us. So if you’re feeling anxious, maybe all you need is a little self-reminder that you can do it.

Never underestimate the power of self-talk and affirmations. They might save you from dire situations most of the time. If you’re not fond of talking to yourself, at least write it own on your notebook. You can also compose a song. Do anything that can help you affirm yourself while creating an outlet post so that everything will not build and boil down inside.

Talk To Your Friends or Loved Ones

If your self-talk didn’t do any good, maybe it’s time to seek help from outside forces. This time, try to open up to your friends. Sharing your burdens to your trusted friend is a great therapeutic session to help ease the anxiety you’re feeling inside. Also, your friends may be able to give you some advice and insight regarding the situation.

Their advice can help you assess your situation carefully and formulate some right decisions intellectually. Talking out is much better than making some rash and dire decisions, especially if you’re emotionally upset. Your friends will always be there to help you overcome the anxiety you’re feeling.

Take a Yoga or Do Some Exercise


Sometimes, anxiety can be triggered because of our pent-up stress. And since you’re stressing out, do something that can naturally ease the stress away. A good thing though is that the body has a natural defense mechanism to handle and battle stress. How? Through exercising.

Exercising not only helps relax your body but it also decreases the cortisol levels in your hormones while increasing the endorphins. These happy hormones will soothe your body. Besides being able to wash the anxiety away, you also get to exercise for a healthy lifestyle!

Being anxious is a natural phenomenon in life, but we must not dwell in it for a long time. Otherwise, we may find ourselves trapped in the deepest pit of the abyss and it might be too late for us to recover.
