The lavish lives of celebrities opened them to the world of addiction. Fame and fortune have their price, but there are consequences that go along with it. Although drug addiction among celebrities is not one of those consequences, there are factors that led them to it.
One of the things that draw them to addiction is the pressure that comes from being a celebrity. We all know that celebrities have to look at their best to keep their spotlight in Hollywood. Some of them would resort to plastic surgery while some would resort to the drug because they can’t keep up with the pressure.

The harmful ingredients contained by these drugs are capable of damaging the brain. At worse cases, some celebrities did not end up with psych cases only but came to an extent of losing their lives. Here are some celebrities who died from substance abuse.
We enjoyed the works of Robin Williams as an actor and a comedian. Superb as he is in his movies, Williams had been open about his struggles with alcohol and cocaine. He reverted drinking in the year 2004 after 20 years of being sober. He then had himself admitted to rehab in the year 2006. In 2009, he had undergone a heart surgery that was said to have greatly affected him. Not many people know Williams had been struggling with severe depression in a huge portion of his life. Williams was found last August and was said to have committed suicide.
Philip Seymour Hoffman
A brilliant actor, producer, and director like Philip Seymour Hoffman has not escaped the struggle of other popular celebrities. He died of heroin overdose in February of 2014 despite recovering for over 20 years. It was said that Hoffman slipped back from opioids prescription, but he relapsed using heroin.
We fell in love with her songs and grew up with them. Whitney Houston is one talented singer who had been struggling with crack addiction and cocaine. However, she died of drowning in the bathtub of her hotel resulting from heart disease and cocaine complications.
It is quite unbelievable that an athlete like Andy Irons had also indulged to several types of prohibited drugs. This superb surfer athlete had a poly-addiction struggle. He was found lifeless by hotel maids in 2010. He was lying in bed with his sheets pulled up to his chin. His autopsy result showed that the athlete died of cardiac arrest resulting from a mix of alprazolam, methadone, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
The Saturday Night Live icon struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for years. In 1982, he died of speedball overdose composed of cocaine and heroin combination.
We only have one life and should live it in a meaningful way. We do not know what these celebrities are going through. However, one thing is certain. With all the problems that we encounter, drugs will never be a solution to any of them.
